Description The Maco 45/92 2 Hook Split Spindle Composite Door Lock is used primarily on composite doors prepared for a 45mm backset and a 92mm PZ centres, although it can also be used on uPVC and timber doors. It’s used as a replacement where two hooks engage the frame above and below the centre case. The centre case contains the main latch and deadbolt that control the locking sequence, while the additional hooks provide further security within the strip. Running along the edge of the door is a 16mm square-ended faceplate, which supports the internal locking components. This strip fixes directly into the door edge and keeps the whole lock aligned in the correct position. The centre gearbox also sits in line with the handle and euro cylinder, and from this central position both the latch and the main deadbolt operate. From the same gearbox, drive rods extend upward and downward to operate the hooks. One hook is positioned 710 mm above the centre case, while the second hook sits 780 mm below it. This spreads the locking points across the height of the door, so the frame is engaged in multiple locations instead of just one. When the lever handle is lifted, both hooks are pushed outward into their frame keeps. The euro cylinder can then secure the central deadbolt, which locks with a key. The lock uses a split spindle follower that separates the internal handle from the external handle within the gearbox. This means the handles operate independently, allowing the internal handle to retract the latch for exit while the external handle remains disengaged when the door is locked. We recommend that you routinely check that the faceplate fixings remain secure along the door edge, so the strip remains firmly seated. We also advise periodic lubrication of the latch, deadbolt, and hooks to maintain smooth movement through the mechanism. The handle lift should fully project both hooks into their keeps, and if resistance develops during locking, then the alignment between the hooks and the frame keeps should also be checked.
